Innovation in public procurement is essential for sustainable and inclusive growth in an increasingly globalized economy. To achieve that potential, both the promises and the perils of innovation must be investigated, including the risks and opportunities of joint procurement across borders in the European Union and the United States. 

This in-depth research investigates innovation in public procurement from three different perspectives. First, leading academics and practitioners assess the purchase of innovation, with a particular focus on urban public contracting in smart cities involving meta-infrastructures, public-private partnership arrangements and smart contracts. A second line of inquiry looks for ways to encourage innovative suppliers. Here, the collected authors draw on emerging lessons from the US and Europe, to explore both the costs and the benefits of spurring innovation through procurement. 

A third perspective looks to various innovations in the procurement process itself, with a focus on the effects of joint and cross-border procurement in the EU and US landscapes. The chapters review new technologies and platforms, the increasingly automated means of selecting suppliers, and the related efficiencies that “big data” can bring to public procurement. 

Expanding on research in the editors’ prior volume, Integrity and Efficiency in Sustainable Public Contracts: Balancing Corruption Concerns in Public Procurement Internationally (Bruylant 2014), this volume builds on a series of academic conferences and exchanges to address these issues from sophisticated academic, institutional and practical perspectives, and to point the way to future research on the contractual models that are emerging from new procurement technologies.

La famille Perier a marqué de son empreinte le XIXe siècle. De l’Assemblée de Vizille en 1788 qui s’est tenue chez le banquier Claude Perier à la présidence de Jean Casimir-Perier en 1894-1895, en passant par Casimir Perier président du Conseil de Louis-Philippe et Auguste Casimir-Perier rédacteur des lois constitutionnelles de 1875, elle a contribué au mouvement de libéralisation et de démocratisation de la France qui a permis l’instauration d’une république parlementaire. La banque qui porte son nom a également occupé une place de premier plan dans l’industrialisation du pays. L’étude de la dynastie Perier, à partir de regards pluridisciplinaires, aide à comprendre l’émergence de la France moderne.

Ce livre décrit la construction de l’État breton à ses débuts.bre Loin de la doctrine des Montforts, les ducs de la maison de Dreux administrent entre 1213 et 1341 leur principauté en bons pères de famille, efficaces, économes et sans trop de scrupules. Entourés et aidés de quelques centaines d’officiers et de fermiers, ils administrent de façon très rigoureuse leur domaine. Grâce à une étude systématique des sources et à un important travail de prosopographie des serviteurs des ducs, cet ouvrage apporte un éclairage nouveau sur la Bretagne des XIIIe et XIVe siècles.

Yves Coativy est professeur d’histoire médiévale à l’université de Brest. Ses travaux portent essentiellement sur la monnaie et sur la construction de l’État en Bretagne à la fin du Moyen Âge. Il est codirecteur de la collection « Sources médiévales de l’histoire de Bretagne » aux Presses universitaires de Rennes.

Elle peut être la marque d’une résistance que des juges veulent combattre (procès staliniens ou procès hitleriens). Elle peut être encore (et à l’inverse) le reflet de tueurs passionnels ou de tueurs en série sur lesquels la psychologie et le droit se penchent depuis longtemps.
